Neo Japan: Pop Art Explored

2 Aug – 8 Aug, 2023
Singapore

This exhibition will feature a total of over 60 works including iconic paintings and paper works by world renowned Japanese artists including Takashi Murakami and Yoshitomo Nara on loan from Ms. Chiu’s personal collection. Alongside these established names, both the curator and Ms Chloe Chiu have personally selected and curated 12 Japan’s emerging, most promising, up and coming stars from today’s contemporary art scene, such as BYNAM, Masato Yamaguchi, Hiroshi Mori, Kojiro Matsumoto, and Rooo Lou. These young artists’ works were specially commissioned and created for their Singapore debut, for almost all of them, this would be their first time exhibiting in Singapore.

The curator of the exhibition is scholar Ms. Kutsuna Miwa, who has been studying the East Asian art scene for over two decades and teaches at a number of universities. “I am especially excited to show NIJIGN-HA art to the Singaporean audience,” states Ms. Kutsuna.
